Spending Time In Orem

Last night, after Spencer got off work, we drove to Orem to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Wallace. It was super foggy from about Draper on. Well.. pretty sure it was around Draper. We really couldn't see anything. You could see the road and that's about it. But we made it just fine. I'll take the fog any day over the freezing rain we've had lately.

This morning we got up to help Dawn in setting up for Caulene's wedding. There wasn't too much for us to do, but we had fun. I think Dawn pretty much had everything down and under control.

During Caulene's wedding ceremony we sat with Spencer's parents and family. (well... minus Aaron..) Caulene had a very simple and cute wedding set up. She looked very happy but ready for it to be over at the same time :) I got to meet more Wallace family members there too. They all like to hug. All of them. I suppose I will get used to it :) haha

Now we've just had some time to sit with family at Grandma Wallace's. Spencer has been into scanning old family pictures of his grandparents. He's going to start getting a lot of family history stuff together. Pretty cool. Pretty stink'n really cool. We are planning to spend more time over here in the summer to get all of the stories down and more pictures. I think it will be a great project.

I just enjoyed being here with Brooke and spending time with family.  I think it's going to be a pretty ambitious project that I've taken on, but it will be pretty easy-going in the summer when I'm not in class.  We took Grandma and Grandpa some homemade pretzels.  They were so good!  They really liked them, especially Grandpa, who likes any kind of bread.  That's probably where I get it from!  We're going to Caulene's reception pretty soon, the ceremony was good, and we got a cookie jar and some cookie things that Brooke put the word ''cookies'' on in vinyl lettering.  Very creative!

Utah Gymnastics

Yesterday Spencer took me to see a Utah Gymnastics meet. I have been to gymnastics meets before and Spencer knows I really liked them. So this was a fantastic idea. I love the opening of our meets. They are so cool!

Awesome video :)

Gymnastics is fun to watch because there is a lot going on. This meet was with four teams so there was really a lot going on. The atmosphere is exciting but it is a lot calmer than other sporting events, which, I really like a lot more. And there are always lots of cute little kids that go and dance around  for the camera to find them. We were sitting right behind a group such as this. They were pretty funny.

Spencer even got really into the meet as well. I think he really liked it too. We shall definitely go back to watch gymnastics often. And when we have little kids, we can take them to dance around too.  (Brooke says she won't let me teach them to boo and throw their drinks at people.  It's probably for the best).

It was some pretty intense stuff, I tell you!  Brooke's favorite parts were when people fell off the bars.  Actually that really freaked her out.  I was impressed with the skill those gymnasts have!

Pizza Night

In honor of Spencer's once-started-tradition, we had a pizza night on Friday. I made bread sticks. Spencer is the pizza dough expert, so he did that and we each made our own customized pizza. Mostly because Spencer likes to put everything on his.  (Yes, ma'am!) Only...... we ran out of flour while we were making all that dough. Haha. So Spenc had to run to the store quickly. We've decided we need a good supply of flour to have around. It's our next project :)

The pizza turned out great though. The bread sticks did too. We had dinner and watched the first Lord of the Rings again, because I missed most of that one the first time we saw it. We didn't quite get all the way through though. To be continued on that one. And I think on the pizza night too :) We shall for sure do that again!

Good pizza.  Hats of to Brooke for the bread sticks!  Good movie too.  Brooke is now pretty educated regarding the dealings of Middle-Earth!

Look Mom, I even had salad with it :)
More like, ''Look Mom, I let Spencer take ANOTHER picture of me, then I posted it!''

Well... you can tell who had the camera that time :)
Which pizza is more delicious?  You can be the judge! *cough*the one on the left*cough*

Brooke's 20th

Happy Birthday to me! Yay! So we ended up celebrating my birthday on Saturday, because my birthday fell on Monday... and that was the day we started classes for second semester... and the day I went back to work... so we had fun early :)

Spencer made me a very yummy chocolate cake. (He was not going to let me bake my own birthday cake.) :) It even had a candle. Granted, it was the only one we had, but my birthday is on the 7th so it totally counts!

So begins the sad story of Brooke's 20th birthday... forced to eat my cooking.  At least she got to go to a good movie.  And cuddle with me throughout the movie!  Although she had to explain most of it to me.

We had cake on Saturday and then Spencer took me to see Les Miserables. It was so good! I loved every minute of it. It was a great birthday for me :)

And then we started classes again.... "Oh hey, yeah, happy birthday. Get back to work." haha

Homemade Pretzels

Spencer really likes bread. Pretty much anything that is bread-like. But especially pretzels. So. We found a not-too-bad recipe for homemade soft pretzels and tried it out one night. It was pretty fun. (This is what we do on Friday nights. We cook stuff. Together. (cute!) )

This was also after watching Union beat Juan Diego. I'm glad my little brother asked us to go. It was fun to see Jayde and his team pull a "W".

Spencer even wore my other apron. Isn't he cute? :)
It's the new thing.  I'm confident that all the guys will be wearing them later this year.

Our pretzels ended up looking like this.

After a great deal of coaxing, Brooke finally let me take this picture.

Ok, really, they ended up looking like this. Turned out pretty well I'd say. I noticed they passed the "Spencer Test". That just means he'll make them again.

We also took some to Les Miserables in Brooke's purse.  Best idea ever.  Just don't tell any of the employees at the Gateway Megaplex!

We like to make all kinds of homemade bread. After the pretzels, I made these rolls that were kind of like cinnamon rolls (welll... you make them in the same way..) but instead of butter and brown sugar, you cover the dough with ranch dressing and then place ham and cheese on top of that, roll them up, cut them into smaller cinnamon-roll sized whatever-they-are-s, and then just bake them. They turned out like this:

I also am pretty sure these passed the "Spencer Test" because they were all gone pretty quickly.

They were good for lunch.  I think we ate them for like a week!  Yep, they were THAT good.

Have You Met My Husband? He's Mr. Incredible

So.... one night.... I had a headache and I fell asleep pretty fast. I was super tired, just not feeling well. The next morning, Spencer got up a little before I did, and before I know it he comes into the bedroom with a cup of hot chocolate for me and I received instructions to "stay there". A few minutes later he returned with this:

Guess what everyone. I married Mr. Incredible.

If that wasn't the greatest on its own... he brought me these the next day. He picked them up on his way home from work.

Thanks Spenc!

Honeymoon - Coronado

On Saturday we drove to Coronado Island. Spencer is a romantic (don't know if he will admit that or not) :) and we rented bikes and rode around the island to the beach.

Well, if I'd known going on a bike ride qualified me as a ''romantic'', I would have just taken you on a bike ride around the block here in Salt Lake!  Not really, I'd prefer not to burn my lungs up with this freezing air!

Me making faces.  Sorry mom.

The beach was awesome! It was nice and sunny and warm when we got there! (It got a little cold when we were leaving but who cares.. we were leaving. haha)

Our epic sandcastle

This is me eating Brooke's face.

This is Spencer...chasing the Seagulls
They didn't stand a chance!

Go Utes! (ps-we did not do that)
She's right, it's a testimony of nature itself!

Spencer was obviously taking those last few pictures while I was playing around the water. I noticed what he was doing and turned and ran at him to get him to stop taking pictures of me... instead.... he captured the whole thing....

That's right, it was some top-notch photography on my part!  You can see me in her sunglasses!

After the beach, we checked out Old Town San Diego and the Mormon Battalion Site while it rained a bit. Not bad though. And the Battalion Site was pretty cool. They have an interactive video tour thing that you can see. We had fun. They took our picture at the end of the tour too. I'll have to add that on here once I get my scanner up and running again.

Old Town San Diego was really cool.  They had this old-fashioned candy shop where we bought several kinds of taffy.  Huckleberry was the best flavor!  At the Mormon Battalion Site they asked us what we were doing in San Diego.  We explained that it was our honeymoon and we had dated a little bit in high school, then again after I got home from Ecuador.  It was funny because a father in the group turned to his teenage daughter and said ''Sam, don't listen!!''

It was really generous of Jeff and Courtney to let us stay at their house while they were gone.
We enjoyed the hot tub and the gorgeous view! We owe them a ton for that!

As grandchild/nephew #1 on the Dana side, I am pleased to announce Jeff and Courtney as the winners of the most awesome aunt/uncle award for the year of 2012!!!  (Cheering and applause).

Probably for more than just 2012 :)
