Oklahoma Easter Eggs

Unfortunately, we could not attend the yearly 'Eggstravaganza' hosted by our lovely Jones cousins.... But we still got creative.

Our own little theme for this year was "Our Life in Oklahoma". Spencer enjoyed making pharmacists and pill eggs. I kind of like my tornado egg best. But that is pretty much all we do. We work, Spencer has school, we go home, and we try to keep the tornados to the south of us :)

I think Spencer's egg depiction of the screaming, angry customer at CVS is very good. I think he has had to deal with that on more than one occasion. 

However my choir eggs are not quite accurate... My students don't open their mouths that well to sing. They barely sing at all.

Spring Break Exploring

In addition to all of my projects, we also did a little exploring - mainly for Spencer. He needed to get out of the house :)
I found a cool little train museum for us to check out. Spencer loves trains. His parents will attest to this. So we enjoyed walking around all the trains, climbing on them, and seeing what they were like inside. It was a little cold and the train rides weren't going yet, so we'll have to go back so Spencer can get his train ride. 

  
 

We also looked at the Oklahoma Firefighter's Memorial, found a cool fishing spot on the other side of the Zoo lake, found where the National Softball Museum is located (across from the Zoo), and found where the National Cowboy Museum is located (up the street). I think we will save some of that for warmer days though.

Brooke's Spring Break Projects

Spring Break was wonderful!! (and much needed) I had a great time shopping around and working on projects for our baby girl. The crib skirt was really my first big sewing project and I am very happy with the way it turned out! Spencer was gracious enough to go with me while I traversed Oklahoma City looking for fabric I liked. We walked into one quilt shop and Spencer said quote, "It smells like menopause in here!" He was still good about it though. He carried around the bolts of fabric while I compared them. His reward was to go treasure hunting at Goodwill but I actually ended up buying baby onesies instead.



I also did some painting. I'm not allowed to paint on the actual wall.... so I got some foam board, painted on that, and then stuck it on the wall. It worked out really well.

It's a GIRL

On Friday we had an ultrasound appointment and we were able to find out that Baby Wallace coming in August is a little girl!! We already had names picked out for whatever Baby ended up being.
Her name will be Kadee Ryan Wallace and she is expected somewhere around August 6th. Although the ultrasound technician said she is measuring big and she was getting a date around July 27th. I am hoping our little Kadee Bug comes early. We shall see.



Spencer is super excited to have a little girl coming. He said he was looking forward to Daddy-Daughter dates. I thought that was adorable. (Man points to Spencer.) I am very excited to start decorating Kadee's room. Since she is my Kadee Bug, her room will have ladybugs all over it. I am also very very excited to have found out that my mother saved my blessing dress from when I was born so we can use that for our little girl! Thanks Mom!! That is seriously the best thing ever.

On Saturday I was in a mood to either throw things away or get rid of it. We cleared out a lot of space and rearranged things in our room to empty out the stuff that has been in our spare bedroom. Now I just have to make it through one week of school until Spring Break and then I can get started on Kadee's room.

Happy Quarter-of-a-Century to Spencer!

Spencer's birthday was yesterday. I had no idea of what to get him.... But I know he really likes it when I cook for him. So my goal was to keep the food coming all night long. I started the day before by making him his own batch of chocolate chip cookies. I hid them until he got home from school yesterday. He was so surprised. He had no idea I had already made cookies. I was very careful to hide the evidence. I think he would have been happy if I stopped there. But the bacon-wrapped, cream cheese filled jalapeños were next...followed closely by Grandma B's amazing cheese ball recipe. Then I got the pizzas and pasta going. After dinner we also had chocolate pudding cake. Spencer actually requested that one so it was not a surprise. He may have been surprised it turned out so good though :) I was actually quite impressed with how easy that one turned out to be. 

We also watched 'Kung-Fu Panda 2'.

I caught a few pictures but I know Spencer was very happy.

 

You can clearly tell which pizzas are meant for Spencer. Plus the fact that he does not believe that fruit should belong on a pizza. (Unless the pizza crust is a giant sugar cookie..obviously.)

Oh Baby!

We are very excited to have a baby on the way! Baby is due August 6th. I am 15 weeks along now and in three more weeks we should know whether we are having a boy or girl! In the meantime I have been sleeping a lot and trying to get more water and the exercise in and eat healthier things. Spencer has been proud of all the vegetables I have consumed lately. One night at dinner he said in disbelief, "Who are you and what have you done with my wife??" But he has also commented that I am very boring when all I do is sleep.

Yeah.... We have gotten some good early ultrasound pictures though. I find myself looking at them a lot. It's still hard to believe that there's a tiny human growing inside of me. Although my expanding stomach begs to differ.

This picture is my favorite! With the cute little hand up by baby's head. If you look closely you can actually see baby's brain through the skull!! I think it's super cool.

This is what we did to announce to the Facebook world what we have been up to :) I know our families have been pretty excited that they are now allowed to tell everyone. 

I have definitely been feeling the love this Valentines season!

First Conference in OK

We have been spending our General Conference weekend in my choir classroom so we could watch Conference on a big screen with my projector. Plus we don't have internet at home. The internet at my school is super fast too and we have really enjoyed watching it here together.

Yesterday's talks were very good. I felt like Sister Marriott was speaking exclusively to me. She was wonderful. I also loved President Uchtdorf's talk. He always gives great talks but I especially needed to hear the one he gave this time.

Yesterday we set ourselves up with cookies and crackers and chips and dip. Spencer bought pizza too. Today I have a crockpot with kalua pork cooking in my classroom with us. (Thanks Mom for your recipe!) We are all good to go. (I will add her recipe to our recipe page too.)
