Super Late Valentines Pictures

Most of our Valentines stuff was done before actual Valentines day. But on the 14th, I came home from work super upset and frustrated and I was all upset with Spencer. I ran inside and ignored his gift to me to clean up the dishes and take out the garbage.... to find that Spencer already had. And all I could do was stop and cry. Spencer is so good to me.

I need to work on not lashing out at him when I have a bad day. I'm sorry Spence.

For Spencer's Valentines gift-thing, I made him bacon-wrapped cream cheese jalapenos. I think he really liked them.

I sure did like them!  These are a great example of what happiness tastes like!  I still can't believe Brooke thinks they're gross!  That's okay, I love her anyway, and more for me!

One Year Older & Wiser Too

Happy Birthday Spencer!!

I'm afraid we did not have a lot of time to do much celebrating for Spencer's birthday this year. It fell on a busy day. So that morning, I made sure to have a big breakfast all ready for him and he opened gifts and cards at breakfast.

Spencer's gift from his parents that they got in Hawaii.

Spencer's gift from me. He's excited to ride his bike again. (good thing the weather is super warm right now)

The rest of his birthday was postponed a bit until I could make his pie that he wanted. Spencer did not want cake for his birthday, he wanted pie. With berries. So that is what I made him.

Valentines 2014

On Monday before Valentines, we had a Family Home Evening with some couples in the ward. We watched Elder Scott's talk on Eternal Marriage and then decorated sugar cookies.

This is an anatomically correct heart, with the right side deoxygenated, and the left side oxygenated.  :-)

We also counted the Symphony last Friday as our Valentines date. Then on Valentines Spencer got me a very thoughtful and tasty gift.

My gift to Spencer was a candy bar card and then I made him cream cheese filled jalapenos wrapped in bacon. I think he really liked it :)

Happy Valentines!

Utah Symphony

We have been really lucky lately because I get tickets to the Utah Symphony at work. So we have been a couple times in the last few months. I really like to go listen to the amazing performances and Spencer likes any chance to wear one of his bow ties.

I had a bunch of friends from the School of Music performing in this one and they did a fantastic job! It was really awesome to see. (they are in the choir)

I don't know if I was really supposed to take a picture... the announcer guy just said no flash photography. But you can kind of see where people are, if you know exactly where to look.

I really like the cool glass thing. And we got there early enough to take a picture before there were too many people standing all around it.

We make weird faces...

You will also notice Spencer sporting one of his new bow ties. He is very good at tying them.

The Mozart mass was really awesome. The Kredo is my favorite :) They also performed Shostakovich Symphony #7, it was kind of really super long, and the audience was getting restless. But we really had a good time! Spencer liked the Mozart mass too, because it was not as long as the symphony. We get the best seats when we go with Huntsman tickets. They know I am a music major and the nice front-desk lady gave me first pick for tickets this time.

Creative Family Home Evening

Sometimes I struggle to find a good FHE idea, but not this last week :) We played our own version of scripture pictionary. Sorta :) We made it work though. One person drew a scripture story and the other tried to guess what it was.

As you can see from the scores above... Spencer clearly won.

Happy 21!

On Tuesday, I turned 21 :) I started the morning with a 7:30 class. After class I managed a record-breaking 20 minutes to get in and out of the DMV! Then I just went to work.

I was lucky to get a birthday card from Grandma Dana and one from Grandma Wallace :)

Spencer took me to Zupas for dinner and then he made my birthday cake. He frosted it and everything.

Spencer's family got me a chromatic set of hand bells.

This is Spencer, diligently working on my cake. He made it two layers.

And the finished product! (he put a heart on the top)
The candle is a 7 because my birthday is on the 7th.... and that's all we had.

My parents sent me a cute pair of earrings and a ladle, both of which I very much wanted :)

2014 Goals

For Family Home Evening tonight, Spencer wanted to set some goals together for this year. So while we folded laundry, we came up with this list.

  • Finish the Book of Mormon by April 30th.
  • Start studying the Old Testament by May 1st using the Institute Study Guide.
  • Attend the temple to do Baptisms, Initiatories, Endowments and Sealings each 3X by the end of the year.
  • Keep a monthly budget of expenses and earnings.
  • Have Date Nights twice a month!
  • Make a long-term financial investment.

In addition, I am also going to exercise on Tuesdays and Thursdays after work :) I will start with just that so I can be successful.
